Do you know how to activate your email notifications on your DSM operating system? Well, after yesterday’s article where I explained how to activate DSM notifications on your mobile phone, today I will teach you how to activate DSM notifications via email.
Activate email notifications. Go to Control Panel / Notification / Email / Check Enable email notifications and add your email credentials and a prefix (a sender name). After that, select your current Service provider (in my case, it’s Gmail) and hit the Sign In button. Follow the instructions in the image below.
Note: The prefix will be the name you will see in the email when a notification arrives.
After you click the Sign in button on STEP 2, a new pop up window will open. Log in with the email you have previously typed in in the Recipient’s email address field at STEP 2.
After you log in, hit the Allow button. Follow the instructions in the image below.
After you click Allow on STEP 4, you will be informed of the following: Synology SMTP Notification will redirect important information to “Your NAS server”. Click Agree. Follow the instructions in the image below. Note: Instead of my NAS Local IP, in the screenshot below you will see my synology.me DDNS. Also learn how to enable DDNS on your Synology NAS.
Done. After you click Agree on STEP 5, the settings will be automatically applied to your NAS system.
To configure the Rules for Email Notifications, go to Control Panel / Notification / Rules tab, then check which notifications you want to receive in your email.
